How to Deal with Foggy Windows in Duluth, GA

Window fog has the potential to cause safety issues due to limited visibility. Whether the fog is forming in the interior or on the exterior, this visibility barrier must be dealt with. Window fog is caused by temperature and humidity variations and Acura Carland wants to help our Alpharetta, Atlanta, and Duluth, Georgia area customers deal with your foggy windows.

When it’s warmer outside of your vehicle than inside your vehicle:

  1. Until you’ve balanced out the temperature, utilize windshield wipers to help with removing condensation

  2. Turn down the air conditioner to the least cool setting to increase the temperature without it becoming too uncomfortable. If this isn’t working, turn the air conditioner off completely

  3. It’s helpful to turn off your vehicle’s recirculation feature to battle foggy windows so the temperature and humidity in your car begin to equalize with those outside

When it’s colder outside of your vehicle than inside your vehicle:

  1. Hot air can hold more moisture, so turn the heat on at its maximum setting

  2. Next, turn your air conditioner on to pull the moisture from the air as it passes over the cooling coils

  3. Turn off the recirculation button so that colder, dryer air is brought into the car

  4. Crack the windows for a few minutes to help exchange the humid interior air for dryer outside air if possible

*Alternatively, turn your recirculate feature off and turn on your defroster to blow warm air across the windshield to evaporate the accumulating moisture.
