How to Remove Bugs from Your Vehicle’s Grill in Duluth, GA

Insect splatter on your vehicle is an inevitability and can take its toll on your paint job. Acura Carland wants to help our Duluth, Georgia customers remove bugs from your Acura quickly and easily.  After long road trips and during certain times of the year, such as spring and summer, larger numbers of insects in the air mean more bugs splattered on your vehicle’s front grill.

If dead insects remain on the vehicle too long, they can harden and damage the paint job. Removing bugs requires a bit more work than a regular car wash. It is important to select a bug remover. A bug removal product is more effective at removing dried bugs and the stains they leave behind than water alone. When selecting a professional cleaning product, make sure to read the label to determine whether it’s a concentrate and needs to be diluted. In addition to your bug remover, the other materials you will need include:

  • Hose

  • Dryer sheets

  • Microfiber towel/bug sponge

  • Bucket

  • Car cleaning product

  • Sponge and brush

  • Towel

  • Car wax solution

To more quickly and easily remove insects from your paint job, check out the following steps:

  1. Begin by soaking the bug-stained areas with the cleaning product. Dampening a towel with cleaning product and laying this over the affected area for a few minutes is an easy way to let the cleaning product soak onto the stained areas of your vehicle.

  2. After you’ve applied the cleaner, use your microfiber cloth or bug sponge to wipe away all of the dead insects on your car. If some bugs aren’t coming off easily, apply more cleaning product and let it sit for another minute or so to make removal easier. Don’t use oil-based product when cleaning the windshield as that product can leave residue on the glass.

  3. Wash your vehicle to remove any remaining residue left over from the cleaning products and you can be sure all bugs have been removed. If you manually wash the vehicle rather than using a car washing service, make sure to use clean towels and a fresh bucket of soap and water to clean the vehicle rather than using the towels you used to remove the dead insects.

  4. Apply a car wax solution to make it easier to remove bugs in the future. The wax coating is easy to lean off and prevents bugs from hardening directly on the surface of the vehicle. Spray on or wipe car wax solution on the front of the car. A water repellent solution may be used for the windshield and other glass areas, like the sideview mirrors. Be sure to wipe the wax evenly across the surface of your vehicle.
