Parallel parking can be a major headache for many drivers. Some drivers find it difficult to park in congested areas when required to find a place to parallel park. That’s why Acura Carland wants to help make parallel parking easier with step-by-step instructions.
Seek a parking space you feel your vehicle can comfortably and safely navigate into and out of.
Check your rearview and sideview mirrors to ensure another vehicle is not close behind. Signal toward the space as you approach, slow, and stop, indicating to nearby drivers that you intend to park.
Line your vehicle up with the front of the vehicle parked directly in front of your desired spot. You want to be parallel to this vehicle.
Check your surroundings once more, being mindful of blind spots before you put your vehicle in reverse.
Turn your wheel all the way to the right, assuming you are parking on the right side of the road, then put your vehicle in reverse. Turn your head, looking over your shoulder
Slowly begin backing into the space.
Stop backing up when the right-front corner of the rear car is in the exact middle of your rear windshield.
While stopped, turn your wheel back to the middle position.
Begin backing up slowly until your vehicle just clears the front car, then stop.
While stopped, turn your wheel all the way left, then begin backing up once more.
Once your vehicle is parallel, stop and then turn your wheel to the forward position again.
